We did it.

November 5, 2008

I’m exhausted. I’m hopped up on caffeine. I’m hungover. I’m full of pride and love and hope.

President Elect Barack Obama.
First Lady Michelle Obama.

And if that weren’t enough, INDIANA went blue for the first time since LBJ.
INDIANA. went. blue.
That’s HUGE, people! It used to be the reddest state in the union, the most reliable state to win for Republicans. And even more exciting? The number of ticket splitters! Obama won but so did our Republican incumbent governor… by a pretty large margin, too. That means people voted for our really conservative governor AND Obama. I love me some independents.

What else?
The candidate I’ve worked tirelessly for won her reelection in a LANDSLIDE. We were projecting a single digit win and our goal was 10 points. She won by 20! She’ll be representing this district in Washington for a proud third term.

Last but not least…
THANK YOU.
Thank you to those who voted either way.
Thank you to those who volunteered their time.
Thank you to those who donated money to any campaign.
Thank you to those who paid attention.
Thank you to those who spoke up and spoke out.
Thank you to those who disagreed.
Thank you to those who are skeptical or cynical.
Thank you to those who have hope.
Thank you for personally keeping ME sane.
Thank you for your support when my life was crazy.
Thank you thank you thank you.

What an unbelievable day. What happened last night was big. Some other red states went blue not from what I saw, no blue states went red.

I love the U.S. right now.

Congrats to your boss! I was very happy when PA went blue again… it hasn’t been red since I was three (thank god).

Seems like the midwest is pretty proud to be blue right now.

Congrats to you and your hard work, I doubt the win would have been nearly as high without you working there.

Can’t wait to see you and Joe this weekend!

It’s gotten to the point where all I can say about the whole shebang is:

    “OBAMA!!!!!!!!” (followed by excited squealing)

I think it was a pretty fantastic day for everyone. Seeing so many people take to the polls was incredibly encouraging.
