A Rainy Day in the Reneeborhood

September 14, 2008

Soooo it rained a little bit in Chicagoland today. Check out our lake front property apartment complex!

The Beau Named Joe tests the depth of the sidewalk
Do you think they have to pay more for the lakeside view?
Our property managers apparently like the flooding so much, they installed a fountain (far left). j/k, That’s just an overflowing pond… into the street.
Thank goodness that’s not OUR parking lot.

Luckily, our parking lot was spared from the flooding so we can safely enter and exit the complex, but some people weren’t as lucky. But then again, at least we’re not in Texas right now. :-(In other news, the new job is going well. It’s a lot of hours and the hour commute kinda blows, especially with gas so high. But my first pay check will be so worth it (why do I have to wait until October 1?!) and it’s nice to sit and talk politics with other 20-somethings all afternoon/evening. It’s a nice outlet for my frustrations, since you guys are probably sick and tired of hearing my rants. (Speaking of rants, sorry for the pity party in the last post. TBNJoe surprised me with the new-ish Jason Mraz CD which made everything better!)

In further news, my cousin and his wife gave birth to a bouncing baby boy this week! Clarke Maxwell, a whopping 9 lbs 12 oz. Best wishes to them!

In even further news, Notre Dame is undefeated. Um, awesome. I think the best part was when the announcer told Jimmy Clausen (QB) that he hasn’t been sacked in two games!!!, like that’s a really big football feat… like not being sacked for two games is on par with Michael Phelps shitting golden eggs (wait, that’s not how he got all those medals?). Pretty funny stuff.

And last but not least, how excited are you for SNL tonight? Word on the street is Obama cameo, Tina Fey coming back to play Palin, and Maya Rudolph coming back to play Michelle Obama. I can’t control how excited I am.

So, friends, how’s the weather?

Those pictures are ridiculous!! Holy crap. Glad you’re okay though! Also, I heard that Obama canceled on SNL because he didn’t think it was appropriate given what’s going on with the hurricane. Though I can’t confirm that.

Wow thats crazy!!! And I can’t wait for SNL either. I hope Michael Phelps has a sense of humor… cause if he sucks I’m going to be mildly disappointed.

I wish I had a television! I can’t watch SNL yet. Though I’ll probably be seeing if NBC puts it on their website afterward. I MUST SEE MY TINA.

Dude, it’s STILL pouring rain where I’m at. It literally hasn’t stopped at all in days. Crazyness. Love the fountain, by the way. 😉

Holy crap that is some serious flooding. It wasn’t too bad on my street but on some of the side ones it was awful.

I only saw the Palin-Clinton sketch, and it took me a solid thirty seconds before I realized it was Tina Fey and NOT Sarah Palin! AWESOME. “And to the media: Grow a pair.”

Oh, man. Flooding sucks majorly, but I’m glad y’alls cars didn’t drown. At least you got to go out and play in it. Did you run into any fire ant balls (this is apparently what they do whenever it floods) floating in the lake? Yeah…

I hope you had a lovely weekend and enjoyed SNL!
